Arrow ranitidine 300mg is used to treat stomach and intestine ulcers and prevents them from coming back. It is also used to treat heartburn, throat (esophagus) and stomach problems such as GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), esophagitis and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Arrow Ranitidine works by reducing the amount of hydrochloric acid your stomach makes. It belongs to a class of drugs called H2 blockers that blocks histamine action in the stomach.
How to use Arrow-Ranitidine
This medication is taken orally in 300mg capsule sizes with food or as prescribed by the doctor. It is usually taken twice a day although some conditions require it to be taken four times per day. If you are taking the drug twice a day, it is advisable to take the pills after supper or before going to bed. Use Arrow Ranitidine regularly to achieve optimum results. For short-term treatment, Arrow Ranitidine is effective in treating GERD (within 24 hours), duodenal ulcers (4 to 8 weeks), and active gastric ulcers (6 weeks). It can be administered at a lower dosage for maintenance therapy for severe gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers.
Arrow-Ranitidine Dosage
The dosage and duration will depend on your medical condition and how your body responds to the drug. For instance, if it is for maintenance of ulcers, the duration of the prescription can be over a year. Children can receive different dosages according to their weight. For treatment of GERD, one should take two 150 mg capsules per day. Erosive esophagitis that has been diagnosed requires 150 mg servings four times a day. Complete the dosage even when the symptoms subside. Do not take more than the prescribed dose.
Arrow-Ranitidine Side Effects
The common side effects of Arrow Ranitidine are a headache, diarrhea and constipation. Patients can experience more serious side effects like mood changes, easily bruising/bleeding, irregular heartbeats, severe fatigue, abdominal pain, yellowing of the skin and eyes, dark urine, enlarged breasts and telltale signs of infection like a persistent sore throat, chills, and fever. Older patients are more susceptible to side effects. Inform your doctor if the side effects become more severe.
Arrow-Ranitidine Precautions
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any allergies to it or other drugs in the H2-blocker category. Your medical history should be known by the doctor, e.g., liver problems, kidney problems, blood and immune system disorders, COPD, asthma and stomach problems. This is because some symptoms can be signs of more serious problems like shortness of breath, unexpected weight loss, jaw, chest or shoulder pain, and dizziness. If the patient is pregnant, Arrow ranitidine should only be used when absolutely necessary. It passes into breast milk, and the doctor should advise lactating mothers accordingly.
