About Symbal: Symbal (Duloxetine Hydrochloride) is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor which is used to treat conditions such as depression, musculoskeletal pain, and fibromyalgia. This medicine works by affecting the neurotransmitters found in the brain, inhibiting pain and relieving anxiety through preventing reuptake of dopamine. This process itself is said by experts to be important in reliving depression symptoms such as dysphoric feelings, fatigue and poor or no interests in hobbies among other symptoms. The anxiolytic effects of this medicine are important also in alleviating GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) symptoms. When used to treat fibromyalgia, the medicine affects the nervous system and CNS’ neural networks and in the process relieving pain.
How to use Symbal
Use this medication strictly as instructed by your doctor. The medicine is available as tablets that should be administered orally. Take these tablets whole and do not chew, split, crush or dissolve them as this will affect their effectiveness. There are risks of taking dosages not prescribed to you and such include increased suicidal thoughts or extreme changes in behaviors. Continue taking this medicine even if there are no signs of improvement during treatment and do not stop or alter your dose in case your symptoms improve before you are through with your dose.
Symbal Dosage
Your physician will start by examining you before prescribing a dosage for you. There are three different types of Symbal (Duloxetine Hydrochloride) Tablets all differing in strength. There are the 20mg, 30mg and 40mg strength tablets. For adults under treatment for major symptoms of depression, the most common starting dosage is two doses of 20mg each to is taken daily for as long as the physician instructs. This can be increased over time to a daily dosage of 60mg depending on how your body responds to the treatment.
Symbal Side Effects
There is a possibility that persons using this medicine for treatment may experience side effects during treatment. As soon as you notice any side effects, notify your physician. Common side effects reported by most patients include; nasal congestion, lack of appetite, aching, stomach upsets and dryness in the mouth. These should disappear after continued use of the medicine. Consult your physician as soon as they persist, become worse or you notice signs of any of these severe side effects; pain when passing urine, poor concentration and loss of memory, movements of your body or muscles not controlled by you, rigid muscles or bruises. These are other side effects that may not have been listed here. Consult your doctor to identify which side effects these may include.
Symbal Precautions
Start this medicine after two weeks have lapsed since you last took any monoamine oxidase inhibitor to avoid interaction. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning to conceive, using other medications (prescribed, non-prescribed, herbal or supplements) and those with known health conditions and allergies should not use this medicine before discoing with their physicians about the risks. Stop using this medication as soon as you notice any signs of allergic reactions which may include; chest tightness, swelling of body parts, difficulties in breathing or swallowing, hives and skin rashes.
