About Moza : Moza-5 (Mosapride) - 5mg tablets are administered to treat dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, GERD and gastroparesis (delayed emptying of the stomach). Mosapride, the active ingredient in Moza, belongs to a class of drugs called gastroprokinetic agents. It is an agonist of serotonin 5HT4 receptors found in the stomach and doesn’t affect dopamine or acetylcholine receptors. Stimulating the serotonin 5HT4 receptors results in an increase in the amount of acetylcholine released into the stomach. This then directly increases peristalsis which refers to the natural contractions that move food into the intestine. Consequently, this drug reverses gastroperesis by inducing gastric emptying. Pressure on the esophageal sphincter (muscle between stomach and esophagus) is relieved and gastric acid reflux is avoided.
